This is Foxtail's Annie Get Your Gun, DM. She is the
foundation queen for many of the Rainkey cats. One of my
favorite stories about Annie is the time she was sent to
the Ahketaten Cattery for a breeding. Akhetaten's Flash
in the Pan was the top Aby for the year and Sheila sent
Annie because she was sure to get pregnant and she
produced. Annie had always produced consistently good
kittens. Now, I think she looks to be a petite thing,
this was not true. Not only was she a big cat but she hunked when she walked. This is a sound usually associated with lions. As they walk they exhale forcefully and sound as if they are saying 'hunk, hunk, hunk. Annie arrived at Ahketaten and marched out of her carrier looking for this hot shot stud. She was bred and back home in less than a week. Annie was bred by Pat Warren and her parents were Foxtail's Rio Grande and Foxtail's Murasaki. She was the second ever Somali DM and produced GC Rainkey's Windrider, GC Rainkey's Ragtime. GC Rainkey's Starmoth, GP Rainkey's Moonshadow, GC Rainkey's Skyruffles of Twotowin, GC Rainkey's Starflower and GP Rainkey's Alexander. Other children of note are Rainkey's Skyhunter who is behind some of the top Somalis in South Africa. |
